Is Computers Slowing us down ?

I would start by saying that i am not going to place my points in favour of the computers, because everybody is aware of it. Computers reduce time, helps in replicating fast blah blah blah blah .......

I am putting forward a few points which really need some retrospection :

It had slowed us down. Even for simple calculation like adding or multiplying two numbers, we feel the urge to use a calculator/computer. This strong urge has to be killed first before we start our mental calculations. Here we are losing precious time.

Why do we say that Indians are more intelligent the Americans? The situation is not at all like that. Americans are also as intelligent as us, but the only difference is that they have become too much reliant on machines. They trust machines more than themselves. That loss in self confidence has reduced their creativity to a large extent.

Till now , by and large, computers hadn't penetrated the masses in India. So people were using their mind power more. With the coming of the computers, people are becoming dependent on the computers. Such is the extent that even small tasks are becoming difficult to accomplish without them ! That time is not far when students from the underdeveloped countries will come and take up the reins of the education and research system in India, just as India is slowly climbing up the ladder in the US !!

Our mind is such a complex machine, nothing can replace it. Its above everything. When you are seeing something, or drawing a line or arc, you dont even think twice about the co-ordinates across which your hand is moving. Your eyes ees it and estimates it instantly. Machnes have to actually process such information. Each and every move is calculated. These calculations are done after the user gives input in terms of discrete numbers. Its really pathetic.

For large tasks, its impossible to acheive without computers. But for small tasks, we have to stop using the computers. It shall keep your grey cells active and open to new ides, which you shall apply in a larger context with the help of computers !!!

In search of ..............

Its been more than 24 hours now, and none have responded to this notice that I put up. The opening of an alumni chapter is the outcome of genuine feelings for your school, which has given you everything. Right from your early alphabets to your high-funda calculus and statistics, you have absorbed everything from this school. Its time now to give something back. To help those out, who are under-previleged. And it gives you real satisfaction, i tell you !

During my school days, there were many facilities that i had craved for, which i did not get like the access to the internet, the swimming pool, a library full of useful books etc.

I do not want the next generation to face the same crisis that we faced. In this age of globalization, we should be at an equal footing with students from any and every developed country. These students are our future hope and they should be equipped with the best !!

Distribution of knowledge or giving a little of your spare time for such activities are not at all demanding. After-all , its your responsibility to give back to the system more than what you have received. Then only are you fulfilling the true needs of the society. You can't be like a black hole, sucking in everything into itself. You should be more like a black body, which radiates as much as it absorbs !!

Its St.Patrick's Day today and i am getting more and more nostalgic. Long live St.Patrick's H.S.School Asansol ! Here's our school anthem :

Cheer for St.Patrick's Asansol.

Whatever the task, on us depend,
We will fight to the last our school to defend,

July ---- Not for me !!

July is a dreaded month for me !! Seriously, it gives me goose bumps !! Its been a strange co-incidence, that all the girls in my life, for whom i had developed certain emotions and strange affections were all born in July !! All have their Zodiac signs as "Cancer". And none of the so called "affairs" or "affections" have lasted. A - 5th July, B -8th July,C- 19th July,D- 2nd week of July !! So i have to be careful about these Cancerians. July is of no use to me... He he he....Lets hope the other months help !!

A Blogger's Aniversary

I just realised that i have been on Blogger for the last one year. One major factor contributing to the blogs, is my confidence. Its the confidence ,that, you will be able to express your thought.
I started active blogging only toward the end of last year, after i returned from training. Its some sort of a solace.
When you don't have anything to do and many thoughts come to your mind, this is the best place to crucify your thoughts once and for all. Comments are also one of the many motivating factors.
Sometimes i do think .... what have i contributed to this society? I have enjoyed all these facilities without inventing anything new ! That self satisfaction is not there. Self satisfaction on inventing something new should be a big motivating factor.... after all, you are not only serving yourself but also bringing smiles to many people who are dependent upon you for it.
Neway... i have loved this journey....commented on many blogs, commented on myself, and ridiculed many blogs. I think this whole idea of blogging is so wonderful. Once i had thought that after the coming of the computers, the skill of writing will die down.
But here we are, in this blogger's world, where thousands and thousands of pages of literature is being churned out everyday.
I suggest that even at school level, one period can be devoted to blogging and shall be commented upon by the teachers and other students. It will help children express their thoughts and come of of that shell, into which they retreat due to fear of writing.
Text blogging is just the beginning. We have audio blogs also these days. And video blogs are also evolving .May blogging evolve in a larger and bigger form and touch each and every life on this planet.

Is fun gonna Kill me someday ??

I am one of those rare breed who seek to find something funny in everything in this world. Things have gone up to such limits that even when i think i will punish someone, i make fun of him !! I mean i become quite sarcastic !!
I can't understand where to draw the thin line. Its really tough for me. I think if i make fun of that person , then he might accept his fault in a sporting manner and consequently try to rectify himself. I am so ignorant !!
I mean to do no harm to anyone by being sarcastic. Its my nature that pegs me on. I even laugh over my own mistakes and try to rectify them.
I understand , that sometimes my sense of humour can be a big pain in the ass, but I can't help it. I am like that and shall remain like that. You have to bear with me. :))
I hope people can enjoy my jokes to the same degree that i enjoy while cracking them ...he he he he he he...
